Training has covered the following topics:

  • RECP Options for Materials and Waste Minimization
  • RECP Options for Water and Effluent Minimization
  • RECP Options for Energy Efficiency
  • RECP Options for Chemicals Management
  • Feasibility Studies
  • RECP Management

UNIDO RECP project national coordinator Ms. Nune Harutyunyan presented the work conducted by project and progress of RECP assessments done in cooperation with Armenian business companies committed to RECP (please, visit www.recp.am for more information on initiative).

The training consisted of two parts: module presentation by international RECP expert Mr. Nazir Abidjanov and national expert presentations covering conducted RECP assessment results and preliminary RECP options identified for the business companies. At the end of each presentation there was a “question & answer” session.

The modules presented by the international expert Mr. Abidjanov, were aimed to introducing the main objectives, methodology by which the experts need to further implement the project in the Demo companies, in order to elaborate RECP options for SMEs working in chemical production (PVC and poly laminate capsules, SLI lead-acid batteries for vehicles), electronics   - thin-film temperature sensors, GPRS modem-controller, basalt fiber manufacturing,  manufacturing of shoes, food and beverage production (dairy products, jams, preserves, marinades, juices, cheese, canned meat, bottled spring water and lemonades).

Experts discussed and focused on national level case studied on RECP application and elaboration of RECP options for the fish canning factory, including input material use, resource efficiency, energy and material efficiency issues within the context of acceptable and realistic RECP applications.

RECP experts introduced preliminary reports and RECP options introducing review of the overall situation in the companies they work with. One of the main targets of performed assessments/audits was to find out the production processes where the resources were used ineffectively and eliminate those, also finding out the technologies and alternative ways of using those resources more effectively.

According to the experts the RRR principle would be also an incentive to expand the business and gain financial benefit. The latter would be the most important incentive for the companies to implement the project.
